Jaw Pain

Jaw PainStress is an element of life that no one can run from. It can be caused by a variety of sources and can show up in numerous ways. Many people find that they hold their stress in different areas of their body. You may find that your shoulders or neck get sore just because of the stress in your life; other people may find they hold their stress in their jaw. An easy way to find out if you are one of these “jaw stress” types is to ask yourself: “Do I clench/grind my teeth at night or find I have jaw pain on occasion?” If you’ve said “yes” to any of those questions, you may be in need of some jaw treatment with massage therapy.

The jaw is a very sensitive area; therefore, it may react a little differently to massage than your back muscles do. This sensitivity is partially due to the amount of expression that comes from the face; you smile, you laugh, and you express numerous other emotions and feelings through your face and jaw muscles every day. It is no wonder that the face may be more sensitive to work on than other areas of the body.

Although the jaw is very sensitive, it also highly benefits from having massage therapy work done to it. It may not prevent a client from grinding or holding stress in the jaw, but it can help relieve much pain and discomfort. If you suffer from jaw pain, book a massage today!

COVID-19 Update

Due to the State of Emergency announced in Waterloo Region this past week and the mandate put forth by PHA and my governing college (CMTO), I will be temporarily keeping my Massage Therapy Clinic closed at this time. As I am unsure as to when it will be safe to reopen, I will be contacting clients on a weekly basis who have an upcoming appointment to cancel their treatments and will be placing them on a rebook list for when this outbreak has passed.
