Easy Remedies for Achy Spots

Sore? Don’t be surprised if the person sitting at the next desk is sore in the same spots you are! Desk job workers should look out for sore necks and low backs due to postural issues. Your shoulders and neck may be hunched forward and your back is probably not aligned and straight like it should be. Double check to see if you need to make slight changes; it should help relieve those aches.

Guys! Don’t drive with a wallet in your back pocket. This can lead to Sciatica which is a painful nerve condition that causes sharp pains to run down your leg. When you work out at the gym, remember to stretch afterward. Tight muscles can lead to pain in the future.

Ladies! Heels look nice, but they’re not that nice to your legs. They can eventually cause varicose veins, muscular problems in your calves, and muscle spasms in your feet. If you have to wear them, bring a change of footwear with you to give your legs a bit of a break. When you sit, don’t cross your legs. This can cause pelvic misalignment which will put strain on your muscles and your joints.

These are easy remedies, but sometimes they can be really hard to fix because most of these issues are caused by habits that are difficult to break. If you can conquer them your body will be happier and those sore spots will fade away!

Pain in the Neck

An achy neck and shoulder is a common sore spot for most people. Whether it is stress, work related, or an injury of some sort, necks take a lot of abuse. Why is it that neck pain is so common? Well, look at today’s posture in most work places. A lot of work, in the present day, is done at a desk or in front of a computer. Those shoulders are slumped inward, your head is forward and rarely is your spine straight. It’s no wonder your neck is sore! It also has an average of eight to twelve pounds to carry around all day until your head hits the pillow at night.

Luckily massage is a good option to diminish neck and shoulder pain; a combination of back and head, neck, shoulder massage can significantly reduce tension held in these areas. It can also reduce headaches caused by posture related issues, help with muscle spasms and those general tender spots in your neck and shoulders.

COVID-19 Update

Due to the State of Emergency announced in Waterloo Region this past week and the mandate put forth by PHA and my governing college (CMTO), I will be temporarily keeping my Massage Therapy Clinic closed at this time. As I am unsure as to when it will be safe to reopen, I will be contacting clients on a weekly basis who have an upcoming appointment to cancel their treatments and will be placing them on a rebook list for when this outbreak has passed.
